What Does it take to become an EMT?

1)  Completion of a State Approved EMS training program

Individuals must successfully complete an EMS course from an Idaho approved EMS Education Program, hold a current EMS license in another state, or hold a current National Registry Emergency Medical Technicians certification.
Courses are available in the Grangeville area almost every year, and usually start in the Fall.   The course consists of about 120 hours of training, which includes attending classes two nights a week, self study,  practical skills training, and test preparation.

2)  Passing a Certification Exam

Successful completion of the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) written examination and the psychomotor (skills based) examination is required to apply for an Idaho EMS license.   You will also be required to complete a criminal history background check.

3)  Commitment to put your EMT skills to work in the community.

Our expectation is that you would make yourself available to help staff the ambulance for a minimum of two weekend days, in addition to four or more weekday or evening shifts a month.
